Kent Island Day ’22 is Saturday, May 21!
What is it?
Kent Island Day is a celebration of heritage, life, and culture of Kent Island. This year’s celebration will be on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The Kent Island Day tradition began in 1977. Acting Governor Blair Lee, signed a decree recognizing KI as the first permanent English settlement within Maryland.
The family-friendly community event takes place in one of Kent Island’s oldest and most lovely communities. Join the fun in the “Mayberry-like” village of Historic Stevensville. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and an official Maryland Arts and Entertainment District. It will spotlight the Heritage Society’s Historic sites. They will all be open to explore. Check out docents, working blacksmith, local authors, and artists. There will be vendors, great local food, kids’ activities, an old fashioned parade, and great music.
Schedule of Events
📣10:15 am – Opening ceremony begins with the National Anthem and salute to the flag. A reading of the original Kent Island Day Proclamation is always included.

Enjoy historic costumes, music, scouts, civic groups, horses, and more”, said Jack Broderick. Jack is the Kent Island Heritage Society President and KI Day parade chair. Jack says, “if you want to be part of the parade, give us a call”.
