Adventure on Bike or Foot

Is there anything better than walking or biking through some gorgeous tree lined trails and being surrounded by the gorgeous backdrop of autumn? Golds and reds. Browns and oranges. Bring on the beauty of Fall Foliage on the Eastern Shore!

Terrapin Nature Park

Terrapin Nature Park is the perfect spot for bird and leaf lovers alike. This 276-acre Queen Anne’s County Park is located on Kent Island and is the top eBird hotspot in Queen Anne’s County in terms of number of species reported. The park has a diversity of habitats that make it the perfect stop for a variety of birds during their fall migration. Terrapin Nature Park even offers a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk so those with differing abilities can enjoy the birds and fall foliage.

Tuckahoe Creek State Park

Tuckahoe Creek, a quiet country stream bordered for most of its length by wooded marshlands, runs through the length of the park. A 60-acre lake offers boating and fishing. It’s about 35 minutes from Kent Island.

The park has 20 miles of scenic hiking, biking and equestrian trails, flat water canoeing, hunting, picnicking, as well as a recycled tire playground for children.

Matapeake Park

Located on the Chesapeake Bay on Kent Island, Maryland, the grounds include a public swimming beach, an outdoor amphitheater, family picnic area and 1 mile trail through the surrounding woods, with views of the Bay Bridge. The beach is open sunrise to sunset daily. Enjoy an afternoon sitting by the water and viewing the autumn colors.

Explore the Chesapeake Country National Scenic Byway

Take your time experiencing the special beauty of this tidewater region with its pristine waterways and vibrant historic waterfront villages. The entire loop takes about 12-16 hours. History & Beauty

The Harriet Tubman Byway is a self-guided driving tour that winds for more than 125 miles through the beautiful landscapes and waterscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and then another 98 miles through Delaware. It includes 45 historically significant sites related to the Underground Railroad. Spend a couple of hours or a couple of days exploring. 

Experience Tubman’s story through the road trip known as the Tubman Byway. This self-guided, scenic driving tour includes more than 30 sites, many of them with outdoor markers or interpretive signs that share the story of that place. Highlights include the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park and Visitor Center, the Harriet Tubman Memorial Garden, The Harriet Tubman Museum & Educational Center (home of the Harriet Tubman Mural), and Webb Cabin.
