Summertime is the perfect time to sit outside to read a book. I’ve put together the best summer reading for kids! Here are my five book recommendations!
1: Keena Ford AND THE FIELD TRIP MIX UP by: Melissa Thomson
(Reading age : 7 – 8 years)
Keena is excited to go on a field trip to the United States capitol. She is running for student council and is excited to go on this trip. A girl in her class is always trying to get the best spot but Keena wants the best spot this time.
2: Sophia Washington The Snitch by: Tonya Duncan Ellis
(Reading age : 8 – 11 years)
Sophia and her friends are getting bullied by the new girl in school. They all decide to stand up to her to put the bullying to an end.
3: Junie b. jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus by: Barbara Park
(Reading age : 5 – 7 years)
Junie is a sunny silly girl who must ride the bus on her first day. She does not want to ride the bus because she thinks it smells.
4: allergic by: Megan Wagner Lloyd and Michelle Mee Nutter
(Reading age : 9 – 12 years)
Maggie asks for a dog for her birthday. She is so excited when she gets one. Then she starts sneezing and realizes she is allergic. Her parents take her to the doctor to see what is causing her issues.
5: Becoming Brianna by: Terri Libenson
(Reading age : 9+ years)
Brianna is excited for her bat mitzvah but soon realizes she must make a speech in front of everyone. She is extremely nervous about being in the spotlight.
I like reading comic books and chapter books, but my favorite type of books to read are graphic novels. I love how they can take you to various places in the palm of your hands!
Happy reading!
